Eraserheadis a 1977 American surrealist horror film written, directed, produced, and edited by David Lynch. Lynch also created its score and sound design, which included pieces by a variety of other musicians. Shot in black and white, it was Lynch's first feature-length effort following several short films. Starring Jack Nance, Charlotte Stewart, Jeanne Bates, Lookingat Lynch's work as a director, his first full-length movie was Eraserhead in 1977. His work on that film led to his direction of The Elephant Man (1980), followed by the theatrical Recording The mood and tone of Eraserhead and its soundtrack were influenced by Philadelphia's post-industrial history.
